The EUC Enterprise discovery process provides comprehensive functionality for the discovery and registration of spreadsheets and other EUCs including MS Access, Crystal Reports, SQL Server and other BI applications.

EUC Enterprise uses an agent-less technology to discover and interrogate spreadsheet and other EUC files and related applications wherever they reside. This includes network drives, end-users desktops, laptops, document management systems, SharePoint and other databases.

Once discovered, EUC Enterprise captures key metrics, data and metadata about the EUCs, such as links, dependencies and complexity in spreadsheet applications or complete data dictionaries for MS Access and database applications. This information represents a Living Inventory of the EUCs and gives users the ability to perform analytic functions, manage information workflows, and create documentation, all without impacting the performance and usability of existing end user applications.

Organizations can analyze and manage their EUCs though the provision of filtering, selection and validation templates that include risk ratings, materiality, complexity, business impact, usage plus other user defined criteria. Different parts of the organization may build their own definitions and profiles for ranking and categorizing EUCs. One group may want risk ratings based on functionality, complexity or materiality; another group may care about EUCs containing G/L account data; a third group may care about personal identify data, such as names and account numbers in EUCs.

The Living Inventory

The Living Inventory is a dynamically changing inventory and fundamentally different than typical solutions based on search capabilities used to create a static inventory. In many organizations changes are occurring continually, therefore static inventories are usually out of date before organizations can even verify the integrity of the applications.
